Kraków’s Old Town survived the Second World War, so you’re able to feel the ambiance of the days when it used to be the capital of Europe’s largest country. Come join us for a tour around a city that hasn’t changed much since the Middle Ages to find out why it was included on the first-ever UNESCO Heritage List!
We will show you where to look to find traces of the city in its heyday in the 15th and 16th centuries, when Copernicus himself walked these streets. These were the days when Kraków teemed with the sounds of many different languages, colourful clothing and exotic goods, and people from around the world who came here seeking their fortune. But the roller-coaster of history never missed the royal city, and its days of wealth and prosperity turned to times of collapse and decline. The most recent tragedy of World War II and the hopelessness of communism are something you can still feel roiling under the seemingly calm and peaceful surface of contemporary Kraków. It was also during this dark time that Kraków was home to a young man who later changed the fate of Poland and the world. His name was Karol Wojtyła, better known as Pope John Paul II.
Like every good story, Kraków’s should have a happy ending, right? The city today will surely provide one! Join us and be ready to watch, touch, listen, smell and taste. You will definitely need all of your senses to discover Kraków!

After visiting the Old Town we recommend taking Jewish Kraków and World War II in Kraków free tours to understand Kraków’s history better!
Damian historical tour. This was funny and very informative. He was a former history teacher so ofc he provides tons of facts and information. The walk takes in the old town and ends at the castle. It lasted around 3 hours or so and we had a toilet break.
The speed is casual and suitable for all abilities. What I liked was he wasn’t pushy for money, he explained the situation then opened a bag and allowed you to donate what you wanted. He was very funny but maybe less Russian jokes about Russia in future
I highly recommended Damian and the Walkative Krakow
We had today a guided tour with Max in the old town. It was the best tour I ever had. Max is able to tell us the story of the city and Poland in a very enthusiasm way.
We can definitly recommend him!
Tomas is an absolute giant of a man (literally) with a giant amount of Kraków knowledge. He provided us with a wealth of informative and insightful stories throughout the tour, demonstrating his passion for this lovely city. Absolutely recommend!
This is my 5th Walkative tour in Poland and I’m really impressed. The old town tour is a fantastic way to introduce yourself to Krakow. Our guide, Jola, was incredible. She knows her Krakow history, and was able to more than hold my interest for 2 hrs and 45 minutes. Overlaid by a Polish history lesson she passionately talked about many aspects of Krakow history. She was also open to questions on a variety of topics. I really feel I would have missed the significance of a lot of Krakow treasures without Jola’s tour. More than just reciting facts she told a story, and an incredibly interesting one at that.
Very informative. Big ToM is such a fantastic storyteller and has such a depth of knowledge and the information is delivered with fun as well as sincerity. He was open to questions and engaged so well with the group right from the start. Can’t wait to come back and go on the Jewish tour. Thanks for such a lovely introduction to Krakow. We will return.
