Kraków’s Old Town survived the Second World War, so you’re able to feel the ambiance of the days when it used to be the capital of Europe’s largest country. Come join us for a tour around a city that hasn’t changed much since the Middle Ages to find out why it was included on the first-ever UNESCO Heritage List!
We will show you where to look to find traces of the city in its heyday in the 15th and 16th centuries, when Copernicus himself walked these streets. These were the days when Kraków teemed with the sounds of many different languages, colourful clothing and exotic goods, and people from around the world who came here seeking their fortune. But the roller-coaster of history never missed the royal city, and its days of wealth and prosperity turned to times of collapse and decline. The most recent tragedy of World War II and the hopelessness of communism are something you can still feel roiling under the seemingly calm and peaceful surface of contemporary Kraków. It was also during this dark time that Kraków was home to a young man who later changed the fate of Poland and the world. His name was Karol Wojtyła, better known as Pope John Paul II.
Like every good story, Kraków’s should have a happy ending, right? The city today will surely provide one! Join us and be ready to watch, touch, listen, smell and taste. You will definitely need all of your senses to discover Kraków!

After visiting the Old Town we recommend taking Jewish Kraków and World War II in Kraków free tours to understand Kraków’s history better!
I thoroughly enjoyed this tour today. Big Tom is a great guide, really friendly and knowledgeable and highly experienced. I learned so much about the history of Krakow. This is my second tour with Walkative, I did the Jewish quarter tour yesterday with Chris and I would highly recommend it also. Chris is another fantastic guide. I would say that these tours are the best way to see a city! Thank you Big Tom and also Chris!
Thomasz had such a depth of local knowledge and a jovial easy manner. He the tour fun, informative and very interesting.
Would recommend this to anyone visiting Krakow. Maybe do this tour first though, as my only regret is we left to end of visit!
Thank you Thom.
We had a very enjoyable Tour of the Old Town with Lucy, who was so knowledgeable and added lots of humour to the walk.
We had lovely weather and a great bunch of people in our group, but Lucy was the real star, introducing us to parts of Krakow we would never have found ourselves.
I visited Old Town Kraków city tour guided by Damian in January 2023. I’ve been living in Poland for 2 years and Damian shared so many interesting things about Poland and Kraków in particular, which made me feel proud to live here now. He has a wonderful sense of humor and we laughed a lot, while listening to his interesting facts and showing hidden gems. And now when we’re meeting him occasionally in the city, he is always happy to chitchat a bit and share any advice we need. So wonderful city guide! Thanks for this!
Damian is an excelllent guide, he gived us a lot of informations not only about the history about Krakov and Polen, he told us a lot of interextong details. He also did the tour through the jewish quater of Krakow. Also very interesting. I can reconmand both tours!
