About

Kraków’s Old Town survived the Second World War, so you’re able to feel the ambiance of the days when it used to be the capital of Europe’s largest country. Come join us for a tour around a city that hasn’t changed much since the Middle Ages to find out why it was included on the first-ever UNESCO Heritage List!

We will show you where to look to find traces of the city in its heyday in the 15th and 16th centuries, when Copernicus himself walked these streets. These were the days when Kraków teemed with the sounds of many different languages, colourful clothing and exotic goods, and people from around the world who came here seeking their fortune. But the roller-coaster of history never missed the royal city, and its days of wealth and prosperity turned to times of collapse and decline. The most recent tragedy of World War II and the hopelessness of communism are something you can still feel roiling under the seemingly calm and peaceful surface of contemporary Kraków. It was also during this dark time that Kraków was home to a young man who later changed the fate of Poland and the world. His name was Karol Wojtyła, better known as Pope John Paul II.

Like every good story, Kraków’s should have a happy ending, right? The city today will surely provide one! Join us and be ready to watch, touch, listen, smell and taste. You will definitely need all of your senses to discover Kraków!

On this 2h 30 minutes’ FREE Walkative! TOUR you will see:

  • medieval city walls and Barbican

  • Main Market Square with Cloth Hall

  • St Mary’s church with its famous trumpeter

  • Collegium Maius, the oldest building of the oldest university in Poland

  • Archbishop Palace and “papal window”

  • Wawel Hill with the Cathedral and Castle’s courtyard

  • Wawel’s Dragon

  • and much more…!

After visiting the Old Town we recommend taking Jewish Kraków and World War II in Kraków free tours to understand Kraków’s history better!

I have to say this was the best free walking tour I´ve experienced ever. Ever. The guide, if I understood right, Max, is very funny, educated and his explanaitons skills are remarkable. I loved how he connected events in the past of Krakow and Poland to actual situation. Good job.

We did the Old Town tour in the morning and the Jewish Tour in the afternoon. Jacob was a very knowledgeable guide with such love and passion for his country and its history…the good, the bad and the ugly!! Great sense of humour. Would highly recommend any of their tours. Wear comfy shoes!!

Unbelievable experience

I have been to a few tours by different countries and this has been the best experience thanks to Big Tom. His way to guide the tour (Jewish Krakow in our case) did it much more enjoyable than on other occasions, where everything seems much more mechanical. Not enough with this, his research work on this specific tour is incredible, worthy in my opinion of a movie, interlacing stories and data that make you see and understand the tour from different perspectives, from the most general (the history of the city) to more specific anecdotes that help you empathize much better with the situation explained. It was an incredible luck of being able to have Big Tom as a guide, a very nice person and an incredible professional. The world needs people like Tom.
