We’ll also see the largest square in Paris, La Concorde, which holds the oldest monument in the city and one of the most stunning, the Obelisk of Luxor, from Ancient Egypt. This spot, marked by the blood of the French Revolution, was renamed “Concorde” in the 19th century to symbolize peace and harmony.
Next, we’ll stroll along the Champs-Élysées, one of the most fashionable and prestigious addresses in Paris during the 19th century. It’s also the site of military parades, including the largest military parade in Europe, held every year on Bastille Day. Along this avenue, we’ll admire many grand buildings, including the Grand Palais and Petit Palais, built for the Universal Exhibition of 1900, which are among the architectural jewels of Paris. Our tour will then lead us to the history of The Invalides, originally built as a hospital for wounded soldiers, which became a significant symbol of French military power in the 19th century. Today, it houses Napoleon’s tomb, and its impressive gold dome makes it one of the most beautiful monuments in Paris.
